Amazing Icecream

On the Road Again
Monday 3rd Nov

Lovely visit with Diane and her Mum. Wow those gluten free caramel slices and Chocolate orange Jaffa slices were delicious!

On our way southward we stopped at the Mammino Ice Cream shop in Childers. This is the best ice cream either of us have ever had….sorry Kawartha Dairy.

The owners, Anthony and Teena, started the ice cream store from a family recipe to bridge a short return on sugar cane one year.  The response to this icec ream was so successful that they now distribute to over 40 locations in the area and the cane fields are rented out to other farmers.

We enjoy a white chocolates macadamia nut ice cream on a stick and then chat with Anthony. We talk about Canada and our maple syrup, then decide to give him a bottle of our syrup.  He reciprocates by giving us a nice bag of fresh mangos.

Pie for supper. Alan found me a gluten free one. We continue on to Caboolture where we are staying for the night in a nice Best Western motel.  We talked the manager down from a higher G20 price as it seems the G20 is pushing up all hotel prices in the area.  He even throws in a free beverage for my night cap.

We make plans to meet Ros tomorrow for a coffee.
